The Raggery is a studio created from the experiences and dreams of a traveling sewist. Hello, I’m Deidre. I have been sewing since I was about 8 years old. I would pester my grandmother for scraps to make doll clothes. I was a military brat, joined the military, and then married my spouse who was also in the military. This means I have sewn in many places, and under greatly varied conditions. I have sewn children’s clothes by hand, a queen sized quilt using a small starter sewing machine, drafted patterns on kitchen counters, and made many a gift at kitchen and dining room tables that had to be cleared off for homework, meals, or entertaining. I love sewing and want to share the joy of sewing with others, especially those who are new to sewing, or have the creativity and desire, but need a bit more space or equipment to create their vision. We all have unique talents and skills, so let us share the joy of sewing and inspire each other. Whether you are a new sewist just starting your sewing journey, a, sometimes sewist with a project here and there, or a sewist maven with years of experience looking for company or a change of scenery.
